SUMMARY:Soaring for Autism
DESCRIPTION:Soaring for Autism is an incredible experience for individuals of all ages! We know that traveling can be difficult for some children and adults with Autism. We also know that preparation can help make the travel experience easier. At Soaring for Autism\, participants and their companions (parents\, caregivers\, friends\, siblings\, etc.) experience many key steps of the traveling process.\nThe experience includes:\n\nParking in your chosen lot or being dropped off at the departure entrance\nTaking the shuttle from the parking lot\nObtaining your boarding pass from the ticketing counter\nBeing screened by TSA agents at security\nTraveling to our assigned gate and visiting the airport’s sensory room if desired\nBoarding the airplane and finding your seats\nListening to the announcements and preparing for takeoff\n“Pushing back” from the gate\nExiting the plane\n\nPlease note\, there is a maximum of 4 individuals per reservation. We need all registrants’ first and last name (as listed on their government ID for adults 18+) and date of birth. All adults (18+) will need to bring a valid proof of ID for travel.\n\nWe always encourage families to take advantage of speaking with TSA Cares when booking travel!

This presentation will provide practical guidance and advocacy strategies to help families understand and maximize the supports available through Indiana’s Medicaid Waiver programs. Heather Sorrells of Indiana Professional Management Group (IPMG) will share her expertise on case management\, service coordination\, and effective self-advocacy. Attendees will learn how to work collaboratively with case managers\, identify resources\, and build strong advocacy skills to ensure their loved ones receive the services and supports they need to thrive. \nWhether you are new to Medicaid Waiver services or looking for ways to strengthen your advocacy efforts\, this session will equip you with tools\, insights\, and connections to guide you along the journey. \nPresenter: Heather Sorrells is the Director of Case Management at IPMG\, Indiana’s largest HCBS waiver case management provider. For over 20 years\, she has worked in various roles within the waiver program. Heather is dedicated and passionate about supporting individuals with disabilities in determining and achieving what a good life means to them. Heather has served on multiple internal and external committees to promote and train case managers on the implementation of the LifeCourse Framework and Employment First Initiatives. She is a LifeCourse Ambassador and a board member of INAPSE . She has developed presentations and led break-out sessions at State and National conferences\, with the presentations focusing on supporting individual choice\, person-center planning\, and seeking meaningful employment. Heather chairs both the IPMG Legislative Committee and the INAPSE Public Policy Committee.

DESCRIPTION:For Madison County families. A monthly group for children aged 4-14 who have siblings with diverse abilities. Join the Autism Society of Indiana for a fun craft and meaningful evening at the Alexandria Community Center on November 18th from 5pm-6pm. The primary objective of this group is to establish a nurturing environment where these young individuals can engage with others who have comparable experiences and form enduring friendships.
