My name is Christine D. Hoehn. I graduated from USI in 1990 with a degree in El. Ed with a Kindergarten Endorsement. In 1992 I received a degree in El Child Education.
Our family fostered children for approximately 19 years. Dennis, my husband, and I have 5 children. Our oldest, Tonya is 36, Sara is 34 and Jonathon is 32 and Devon and Justin are both 14. We also have 5 grandchildren ages 11,9,8,3 and 2. We have been married since 1974.
I became an ally for District 7 in 2010. I believe all family members should be included in learning advocating and becoming aware of children's developmental challenges and capabilities. The approach of looking at all areas of development should be used with children with special needs to eliminate all possibilities of making a misdiagnosis. This causes the family to miss the opportunity for early intervention , spend money on needless therapies and therapies and be overwhelmed with all the steps of the autism journey. This makes navigating a system filled with frustration and bewilderment even more challenging.
I have been to trainings with Carol Katowitz, Temple Grandin, and Shaun Barron and Mr. Dave Pelzer.
My training has also included:
Spiritual Growth of Children
The Big Picture
Chemical Dependency
Buuffalo Soldier Workshop
Culture of Poverty
2005 Transistion Graining for Youth Aging Out of Foster Care
Legal Issues in Fostering
Reactive Attachment Disorder
Protecting our Communities Children
